6 min de leitura

Atualizado: 11 de out.

"he is an embezzler who stole public money from his own staff" (ele é um desviador que roubou dinheiro público de sua própria equipe")

"a textbook money launderer, he who used chocolate shops and cash to hide dirty money (um lavador de dinheiro clássico, ele usou lojas de chocolate e dinheiro vivo para esconder dinheiro sujo)

militia-linked politician (político ligado a milícias)

mobster / mob puppet (gangster / fantoche da máfia)

corrupt politician / graft-ridden politician (político corrupto / atolado em subornos e fraudes)

nepo baby (filho do nepotismo)

sugestão de prática:

"he's a white-collar criminal"

"he's corrupt to the core"

"he’s a crook"

xingue o Bolsonaro!

vamos para o segundo turno! (em inglês, Brazil election goes to run-off)

  6. crie mapas mentais e moodboards

1. keywords, pillars, and associated feelings: redistricting, boundaries, manipulation, voters, partisan | the power to draw the rules of the game; the asymmetry between the popular vote and legislative seat outcomes; the long-term institutional lock-in of the ruling party | frustration, cunning, distrust, cynicism

2. etymological and semantic deconstruction: coined in the United States in 1812 in Massachusetts. a portmanteau combining the last name of Governor Elbridge Gerry with the word salamander. it originated when the governor’s party redrew an electoral district map into such a bizarre, winding shape to favor their candidates that a local newspaper likened its outline to a salamander

semantic meaning: the act of manipulating the boundaries of an electoral constituency to favor one party or class, creating an unfair political advantage

1 - sua fala/texto traduzido: "Women make up 52.84% of the Brazilian electorate, totaling 83.8 million female voters. They head more than 41 million households and account for more than 84% of the beneficiaries of cash transfer programs; as a result, they are the first to feel any change in the quality of public services. They tend to make their decisions in the final weeks of the campaign based on practical considerations of family stability, rather than political identity. For those earning up to two minimum wages, the focus is on the immediate cost of living: food, gas, and transportation. Social programs are viewed as an acquired right. These women are not content with mere survival: they aspire to a life of leisure, rest, and consumption. The Bolsa Família program alone reaches 18.7 million families, 84% of which are headed by women; the most common level of education is a high school diploma, and one-third have not completed elementary school. Added to this is the stigma and prejudice that beneficiaries of social programs face from society, which lowers their political self-esteem, keeps them from accessing information about their rights, and affects their civic participation"

- identificar sons desafiadores e praticar:

3 - escutar a leitura do texto completo e praticar shadowing

bons estudos!
